Campaign Statement

By John A. Renteria

Candidate for Board Member, 4 Year; Brentwood Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate
My educational background is a BA in History from UC Berkeley. I have 20 years of experience as a Liberty High School District social studies teacher. My son received an excellent education from the Brentwood schools. My second son will also enter the Brentwood schools, and I want to be a board member who helps maintain this academic excellence. The challenges facing our children as they develop from kindergarteners to teenagers are numerous. My day-to-day classroom teaching keeps me close to students and helps me see how difficult it can be to meet students' many needs and learning styles. My high school teaching perspective will provide the board and district with the insights needed to prepare our students for future academic challenges. The Brentwood district will face important changes as we build new schools, modernize existing schools and create school boundaries. As a parent, teacher, and member of this community, these issues are as important to me as they are to you. I want to serve the district as a board member who will put the needs of students first, mindful that decisions affect parents, teachers, administrators and the community as a whole. I humbly request your vote.
