Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Sandi Martien Potter

Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of El Cerrito

This information is provided by the candidate

As a Planning Commissioner, I fought for a business and community friendly General Plan. I voted for improved public facilities and new businesses, including El Cerrito Plaza, Trader Joe's, Mill & Lumber, swimming pool renovation, daycare, and Cerrito Creek restoration. I consistently make decisions that encourage families and businesses to invest in our community.

I am running because as a Planning Commissioner I see the need for real leadership in our community. We need council members who will say "Yes" to worthy projects which improve the city's quality of life. It is time for a positive approach that supports our citizens when they come forward with great ideas.

My top three priorities for El Cerrito are; first, to approve community serving businesses along San Pablo Avenue, while protecting the quality of our neighborhoods.

Second, to enhance police and fire services, including expansion of paramedic services for residents, especially seniors.

Third, develop better partnerships with neighboring cities, the school district and transit agencies, to promote programs for children and teens, Safe Routes to School, recreational opportunities, and improved transportation.

I will provide strong leadership to find creative solutions to complex problems and do what is best for our City.
