Partnership With BARTBy Richard P. NevelnCandidate for Director; Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District; Ward 3 | |

The current reality is that there exists an open feud between BART and AC Transit. The current reality is that there exists an open feud between BART and AC Transit. This must be resolved in short order if control of local public transit is to be much as it is now, in the light of the court ordered increase in ridership. Good Intermodal Connections are what make travel attractive. No one likes standing in the rain, waiting for the bus or the train. Nor do they like walking 50 to 100 feet in the rain to make a connection. At some BART stations, people who drive park "inside" and walk "inside" to the train (which is also "inside"), and transfer to rail or bus "inside". People who arrive by the transit local bus walk "outside" in the rain to get to BART. COOPERATIVE SHELTER SYSTEMS would benefit both systems by increasing transit use over the automobile. I strongly support this position/concept. |
