LARPD Director

By Bill Flynn

Candidate for Director; Livermore Area Recreation and Park District

This information is provided by the candidate
I am currently a Special Operations Inspector with US Immigration. I have been with INS 10 years, and in law enforcement for 13 years. Prior to that I was a high school teacher. I have a BA in History from University of Washington, in Seattle, and a Masters in Education from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. I am the father of four children and the husband of Deborah Flynn. I have lived in Livermore 3 years and have been an East Bay resident most of my life.

I have a keen interest in fitness, winning Gold medals six years in a row at the California State Police and Fire Games in weightlifting. At the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center I earned the distinction of being the strongest ever to pass through the world famous academy since its founding by setting an all-time record in the Bench Press in the over 40 division.

I see the LARPD as an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy in Livermore. I will, if elected, strive to have the authority of the Board transfered to a Commission appointed by the City Council, and elsewhere as appropriate, and to have the board itself eliminated. As an elected board member, however I will strive to make the Livermore area parks more efficient and operate in the most cost efficient manner possible by constantly seeking ways to reduce inefficiency and waste. I will not accept any salary if elected.
