WHAT BETTER WAY TO TAKE CARE OF OUR STUDENTS ... THAN TO PUT A TEACHER ON THE BOARD!By Sam CirauloCandidate for Trustee; Fremont-Newark Community College District; Area 1, Seat 2 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
As a college instructor, I will bring a teacher's perspective to the Board of Trustees. I work in our educational system every day. I understand the challenges and opportunities facing our District. Community Colleges offer the best educational value for the dollar. As your Trustee, I will work to increase state funding for the Ohlone District and keep community college education accessible and affordable. Community colleges are more in demand than ever. I will work to expedite planned expansion of the Ohlone Campus and construction of the Newark Center. We cannot meet steadily increasing enrollment and future needs unless our facilities can accommodate that growth. And, as a former budget manager, I will demand strict accountability for every dollar spent. Our bond money must be spent wisely. Providing quality education is a community effort. We can build partnerships with businesses to bring technology into classrooms and with universities to guarantee transfer admissions. We must take a creative, fresh approach to meet the educational needs of our community. Whether you are a student planning to transfer to a university, a person seeking vocational training, a working professional wanting to remain competitive in your career - or if you just love to learn - I will work to keep our community college system accessible to you. What better way to take care of our students than to put a teacher on the Board? |
