Political Philosophy for Douglas Arthur "Art" Tuma

Our national government was established to protect private property rights as well as "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." But now our federal government takes private property rights: (1) by seizure of property in pursuit of "clean" water and "legal" drugs, (2) by condemnation of property in pursuit of "critical" habitat and "emergent" wetlands, and (3) by purchase of property from "willing" sellers in pursuit of wilderness. But whatever government buys, it buys with money taken from unwilling taxpayers. Politicians have been winning elections with promises to protect wildlife instead of liberty. Eco-priests have been raising money for crusades against private "development" and "consumption". Newspaper publishers have been profiting from reports of conflict over the use of government property. Government acquisition of property diminishes opportunity for private enjoyment of life and liberty. It diminishes opportunity for people to profit from creative use of knowledge, skills, and natural resources. It diminishes personal incentive to create private wealth. Less private wealth diminishes wealth for all. Government "education" fails to teach civics, ethics, and economics. Graduates of government schools disparage private property rights while laboring to comply with counter-productive government mandates. If we want to save ourselves and our children from losing precious years of financial independence, we must end involuntary labor for theocratic mismanagement of government property. If we want to be free from slavery, we must learn how to limit government power to take private property. To save ourselves from communist slavery, we must teach our children to honor private property rights. To keep our liberty protected from government abuse we must vote Libertarian. Libertarians defend Constitutional limits on government power, thereby protecting natural equal rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness by profitable use and exchange of private property. |
