Institute freedom-based actions rather than governmental mandatesBy Jon PetersenCandidate for Member; California State Assembly; District 3; Libertarian Party | |

Far too often, government mandates what people can and cannot do, whether or not it makes sense. It would be far better to treat people individually, making determinations based on freedom and responsibility rather than mandates. It is seldom the case that one size fits all, especially when government is involved. After all, people can make choices as to how they intend to live, who they want to associate with, and what they like and don't like. No one person is identical with any other, and so long as a person does no harm to any others, there is no need for mandates. Everyone can choose their lifestyle within the limits they themselves impose. Unfortunately, government generally chooses to ignore the individual and make one-size-fits-all requirements. We the people can chip away at that, and I intend to do a lot of chipping when I am elected. |
