Air Force Academy Graduate & Decorated Veteran Officer Tim's Air Force career was made up of multiple tours of duty as part of the elite Human Intelligence (HUMINT) arm of USAF Intelligence. His first duty station was in Seoul, South Korea during the last few years of North Korea's Kim Il Sung regime. In 1994, Captain Kane traveled to Andrews AFB, where he worked with the CIA, NSA, and Pentagon on classified national security issues. Tim grew up in the Midwest, where he worked part-time jobs in anticipation of paying his way through college, before his nomination and acceptance to the Air Force Academy. At the Academy, Tim completed survival training (SERE), earned his freefall parachute wings, and graduated with academic and military distinction. While a senior cadet, Tim commanded "Guts" squadron. He also represented the U.S. at the world debate championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Successful Entrepreneur Tim is a respected leader in San Diego's technology community, having co-founded two San Diego companies in the last six years, and in the process of launching a third. His first company, NeocorTech, was North America's leading developer of Japanese translation software. In 1998, he founded and led development of Enonymous Corporation, which raised $5 million in venture funding and was recognized as the "1999 software startup of the year" by the San Diego Software and Internet Council. As a founder of enonymous.com, Tim became a national spokesman on privacy issues and has been interviewed by NPR and the New York Times. Conservative Reformer Tim Kane is campaigning as a progressive Republican - emphasizing the "Four E's" - educational choice, environmental property rights, economic growth, and scientific exploration. Tim has a reputation for energetic leadership, and is a staunch supporter of individual liberty, national defense, free markets and free trade. Family Man with Strong Values Tim and his wife, Hiromi, are the parents of two children and live in San Diego. Tim and Hiromi met in Tokyo, Japan where he was serving as an Air Force intelligence officer. Hiromi is a native of Japan, a first generation immigrant to the United States, and an MBA graduate from Michigan. Tim has always been an active community leader and has coached youth soccer and basketball many times. Tim is also an active athlete and competes in volleyball and local endurance races. A Tradition of Leadership Tim credits his grandfather with inspiring a life of public service. "My grandfather was a Democratic politician, and after my folks divorced, I spent a lot of my time with him. My grandfather told me that politics was a noble profession, derived from the Greek ideal of the good city where leaders care for the soul of the people. One of my goals in life is to honor his work and his example, to fight the cynicism and partisanship of our time, and to remind Americans that democracy is a sacred heritage."
