Mayor Carlon Perry, a lifelong resident of south San Joaquin County, has been deeply involved in local government, serving on various boards and commissions for the past 30 years.

His experience includes; Manteca Planning Commissioner, Coordinator of the Manteca Community Electricity Management Program, Manteca Recreation Commissioner, President of the Lathrop County Water District,and was instrumental in creating a Senior Citizen Nutrition program in the South County.

Mayor Perry won a seat on the Manteca City Council in 1992, re-elected in 1996, and elected Mayor in 1998, receiving the largest number of votes cast for Mayor in the history of the City.

Recognizing the need to address common issues on a regional basis, he played a large part in establishing an alliance of South County Mayors (Escalon, Lathrop, Manteca, Ripon and Tracy).

A graduate of the Manteca Unified School District, Mayor Perry served as a U.S. Army Military Policeman stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.

After completing his military service, he played professional baseball for both the Dodgers and Mets organizations, which has resulted in his continued commitment to youth sports.

Mayor Perry believes that the primary focus of the Board of Supervisors should include: Better management of residential growth; aggressively seeking head of household jobs, and developing an effective program to reduce the traffic congestion nightmare faced by commuters.

Mayor Perry and his wife Kathy, have been married 31 years and have four adult children, Carlon Casey Perry II, Jaime Kesler, Geoff Perry and son-in-law Anthony Kesler.
