Mabel Teng for Assessor

Let's be frank - the Assessor's Office is a mess. And it matters. Millions of dollars have been left on the table by mismanagement and inefficient practices. An efficient Assessor's Office will help San Francisco avoid drastic budget cuts in the years ahead.

I am committed to bringing honesty and integrity to reform San Francisco's Office of the Assessor-Recorder. Over the last twenty years, I have compiled a proven record of public service as an elected official, a community leader, a fiscal expert and an accomplished executive director.

Record of Honesty and Integrity: In ten years in public life, I have earned a record of honesty and integrity. My accomplishments include pa welfare to work legislation, establishing the city's first child care fund and fighting to restore funding to arts and music programs in our schools.

Experienced Manager: As the former program manager and Executive Director of a multi-million dollar non-profit job training program, I managed an organization with a diverse staff of 50 employees.

Fiscal Expert: From six years on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and four years as a Community College Board Trustee, I have a combined ten years of experience shaping budgets and mastering the art of fiscal responsibility.

I will bring a proven record of honesty and integrity, management experience and fiscal responsibility to the Assessor's Office.

I ask for your vote on March 5, 2002.

Thank you.

HONESTY + INTEGRITY MABEL TENG FOR ASSESSOR

The function of the Assessor's office is to identify and assess the values of all taxable properties within its jurisdiction. The Assessor's office is the vital link between the property taxes San Franciscans pay and the services they receive.

Mabel Teng will bring honesty and integrity, new leadership, sound management and fiscal responsibility to the Assessor's office. Her reform platform includes:

- Helping low-income and senior homeowners and small businesses petition for lower tax rates.
- Eliminating waste and overhauling the Assessor's office to better serve the city's taxpayers.
- Instituting fair and impartial assessment practices to make sure everyone is paying their fair share.
- Making customer service a priority so that property owners can have their questions answered on the phone, on the web or in person at City Hall.
- Implementing bilingual services to make sure the Assessor's office is accessible to everyone.
