How To Cast a Write-In voteBy Harris E. KershnarCandidate for Superior Court Judge; County of Orange; Office 21 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
To cast a valid Write-In vote, you must (1) write in the full name of a certified Write-In candidate & (2) punch the "Chad".How To Cast A Write-In Vote The voting for judges is done on Ballot C, the Nonpartisan Ballot. All registered voters in Orange County, without regard to party affiliation, are entitled to vote in the election of judges. As stated in the "Instruction to Voters" in the Sample Ballot and Vote Information Pamphlet: "To vote for a qualified Write-in candidate, write the person's name in the blank space provided for that purpose after the names of the other candidates for the same office and PUNCH OUT THE CROSS (+) to the right of the name you have written in, or your vote will not be counted." You should not deface the ballot in any way. For example, you should not cross out any pre-printed name on the ballot even if you are opposed to voting for that candidate. If you deface your ballot, your vote will not be counted. If you make a mistake while you are Writing-In your vote, you have the legal right to return it to the staff at your polling place and to be provided with another ballot to use. You also have the legal right to ask for a copy of the list of certified write-in candidates. I urge you to exercise that right, so that when you write in Harris Kershnar, you will spell it correctly. If you choose to write in my name when you vote, the space you must use is the blank space exactly one line below the printed box where it says "Ronald C. Kline". This space is in the middle of the page on Ballot C. |
