Career Objective: A leadership position which will allow effective integration of a multiplicity of talents and interest in promoting community and economic development, civic empowerment, and collaboration with a focus on producing tangible, replicable outcomes. Professional Experience Vice President, Fifth Third Bank Foundation Office Oversee and direct philanthropic activities of bank operating in 6 states with annual grantmaking budget exceeding $15 million. Accomplishments: · Development and launch of regional funders' collaborative Community Investment Partners with Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Procter & Gamble, and the Greater Cincinnati United Way to support comprehensive community development in Walnut Hills/East Walnut Hills, Northside, and Price Hill; · Nonprofit consortium to study and evolve effective delivery of capacity building and technical assistance resources to nonprofit organizations; · Creation of collaborative project to develop affordable housing in Avondale involving 10 nonprofit partners, including H.U.D., City of Cincinnati, OSU Extension Service, and neighborhood development corporations. · One of original funding partners and architects of Regional Initiatives Fund, a $1 million grantmaking initiative to encourage cooperation among nonprofits and local government throughout a 9 county area in Greater Cincinnati. Executive Director, Invest In Neighborhoods, Inc. Recruited by Board of Trustees to assure effective integration of Cincinnati Neighborhood Support Program for 51 community councils. · Responsible for recruitment of and interface with community councils to negotiate annual contracts, administration and oversight of the same · Management of two other community funding programs including $600,000 neighborhood endowment fund; training and technical assistance to community council leadership. Assistant to Executive Director, Keep Cincinnati Beautiful · Provided day-to-day expertise on financial management and contract compliance with City of Cincinnati Neighborhood Services Department, community relations with community councils, launch of Cincinnati's curbside recycling program and fund raising. Director, Butler County 9-1-1 Implementation, Hamilton OH May 1987 - September 1988 Director Butler County Litter Control, Hamilton OH January 1986 - September 1988 Served simultaneously as manager of two distinct county-wide programs. Coordinated 9-1-1 emergency phone implementation with all political and safety jurisdictions, oversaw equipment procurement process and devised publicity strategy and kick-off event. Directed litter prevention program, public awareness/education components, as well as solicited and administered state operating grants. Created a separate nonprofit corporation to facilitate fund raising. In both capacities, responsible for personnel, budgeting, and intergovernmental relations Administrative Assistant, The Salvation Army, Peoria, IL August 1984 - August 1985 As Assistant to Coordinators of an international youth congress, aided in all planning for an event which attracted 5,000 participants from 80 countries. Also served as manager of on-site congress office during event. Political Involvement Life-long Democratic Hamilton County Democratic Party Precinct Executive, Cincinnati Precinct 11-A Member, Mt. Auburn Community Council 1988 Campaign Manager for County Democratic Candidate Dixon (Butler, County Ohio) -- Paid manager charged with planning and coordinating all aspects of county-wide campaign strategy including candidate appearances and briefings, volunteers and media relations. Volunteer for 2000 campaigns for Todd Portune, Steve Driehaus and Al Gore, working phone banks, raising funds, door-to-door literature drops, poll work Member of Cincinnati Women's Political Caucus Volunteer Activities President, Board of Trustees, Greater Cincinnati Housing Alliance Member, Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky LISC Local Advisory Committee · Local intermediary focused on provision of technical assistance and operating grants for local neighborhood development corporations. As President spearheaded partnership with local United Way to invite two national funders, The Enterprise Foundation and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), to conduct assessments of region's capacity to support community development. Resulted in LISC agreeing to establish operations in Greater Cincinnati area. Co-chaired successful Campaign for Neighborhoods to raise $2 million local match for LISC. Treasurer, Corporation for Findlay Market · New nonprofit corporation, partnering with the City of Cincinnati to implement multi-faceted revitalization of historic market and surrounding Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Member, Greater Cincinnati United Way Regional Leadership Team · As result of volunteer work with United Way on Community Initiatives Team as well as one of four funding partners in Community Investment Partners project, invited to assume new role on team to oversee transition of United Way from field of service delivery to vision councils. Member, Cincinnatus Association · Local civic institution of which membership is by invitation and limited to 100. Members study and offer recommendations as to local policy and community issues. Currently serve as Co-Chair of Regional Relations Panel which is studying ways to promote regional cooperation in the Tri-State/Greater Cincinnati area and invited national expert Myron Orfield to conduct metropolitcs analysis released in May 2001.
