1. How would you implement your top priority?

Answer from Barry S. Porter:
The citizens of Wyoming require the highest level of, fire safety, police security and life squad response. Maintaining these services require a major budget commitment. As chairman of the Finance committee, we have been able to find creative ways to maintain budgetary limits without sacrificing quality of services. The security problems that face our Nation require that our Community to be prepared with the finest in police, firefighter and life squad personnel.

We must maintain and improve all city services, but especially in the areas of Public Safety, Building and Zoning, Public Works and Recreation. Maintenance and upkeep must be properly funded and regularly scheduled to keep what we have in top shape. We must remain open to new ways of doing things and cognizant of new trends and ideas.

An open and responsive government is achieved and maintained
by providing information to the people, listening to the
opinions of those concerned on issues, and by encouraging
rational and civil debate. In Wyoming, we set a high
expectation of responsiveness by the city administration. In
many cases the law does not permit everyone to have exactly
what they want, but each person is entitles to a prompt and
considerate response to their que

Recreation - recruit committed volunteers, support our new recreation director, improve interdepartment communication, think oputside the box.
Personnel - implement fairer more comprehensive evaluation/compensation system.
Economic Development - better communication with existing businesses; more active recruitment of desired businesses.

By continuing to closely watch how and where we are spending the taxpayers dollar. Grants are used to stretch our money, sometimes with as much as 80-20 split, making that dollar go 5 times as far.
Answer from Stan Streeter:
A Wyoming Council Member should first maintain, then improve those things that make our community special, all within the framework of fiscal responsibility. To sustain the high quality of services and infrastructure our unique community expects, we must find creative ways to generate the money we need to move our city ahead. This will be accomplished by economic development, the dogged pursuit of grants, and careful evaluation of service fees.
Although improving, our work with recreation programming is not done. I will emphasize the needs of two important groups not yet adequately served; teens and senior citizens. Additionally, I have led an effort to create a Hike Bike Trail network that will connect our entire community with a regional network of existing and proposed trails. The creation of a downtown Wyoming hub for this system will increase visitors to our local shops and provide a gathering point for community events.
