SUE LEMPERT BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE Lempert has been a San Mateo homeowner for over 40 years. She and her husband, Art, have three children who have all attended San Mateo public schools. Lempert has worked as a reporter for U.S. News& World Report, public relations writer for General Electric Company, a housing director for a non-profit housing agency and executive director of a non-profit senior agency which developed programs so that aging adults could remain independent and at home. Lempert graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in journalism. She was managing editor of the Stanford Daily. She has a masters in public law and government from Columbia University and a masters in public administration from San Francisco State. Her community experience includes: • Mayor, Councilmember, City of San Mateo • Board member, San Mateo Union High School District • Board member, San Mateo Elementary School District • Member of Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) • Member of San Mateo County Congestion Management Agency • Member of City/County Association of Governments, San Mateo County • Co-chair, South Bay Crossings Study, MTC • Member of County and City Bicycle Committees • Council's representative on Transportation Corridor Study • Council's representative on El Camino Master Plan Study • Member of San Mateo Rotary • Board member, Junior Statesman Foundation • Board member, Friends of the Early Learning Center • Past president, Peninsula Division, League of California Cities • Past Board member, League of California Cities |
