Position Papers
Encourage transit-oriented development of BART station area
Extraordinary opportunity exits to guide the development of substantial transit-oriented housing, hotel rooms, office space and retail shops with tremendous benefits. We need to oversee this growth in the most rational manner possible with the long-term best interests of the city and its residents in view.
Solving the downtown parking problems
Parking problems in downtown Millbrae are ever worsening. They only promise to become worse upon the opening of BART service. Both short-term and long-term solutions are needed. No worthwhile idea should be overlooked.
Providing for public safety and public security
The arrival of BART is expected to bring with it an increase in transients, graffitti, littering and petty crime, as well as parking and traffic problems. Residents of Millbrae, and those who come here to shop and dine, need to feel safe and secure from these and other threats.
