Santa Barbara County, CA | November 6, 2001 Election |
Housing for Middle-Income FamiliesBy Councilmember Marty BlumCandidate for Mayor; City of Santa Barbara | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Housing needs are at a critical stage in the City with more than 15,000 cars commuting into Santa Barbara each day for work. The City has built and preserved over 11% of our dwelling units as low-income housing with our award-winning Housing Authority. We must address the needs of the middle-income workforce, and I am pressing for dorms for City College students as well as UCSB owned dorms for UCSB students. This would free up rentals for other workers. Housing needs are regional, and I believe regional problems require regional solutions. We need a Mayor who can lead us to work with other agencies for housing solutions. |
