The State of California, in the hope of creating a better educational system, has limited our local control of the School District in recent years. Much of the money sent from the State is earmarked for special programs or tied up with multiple restrictions. The challenge of the next Board of Trustees will be to encourage the district to seek out grants and other funds that may free up the unrestricted money. We can then use this money in Claremont, to continue our climb in academic performance and provide a competitive salary schedule to attract the best teachers and support staff available.
