By Ken Horton

Candidate for City Council Member; City of Agoura Hills

This information is provided by the candidate
Agoura Hills needs an identity. "The Northwestern LA County Gateway" is an identity that fits our city. As visitors travel south on the 101 Freeway from Ventura County, they enter Los Angeles County through the heart of Agoura Hills, the southbound gateway to LA County. When departing Los Angeles County, going north on the 101 Freeway, Agoura Hills is the northbound gateway to Ventura County.
I applaud the many Agoura citizens who have stepped forward and taken the proactive steps needed to win enough votes to get themselves on the city council.

Incumbents are proven warriors. They have faced the battles and they have the scars to prove it. The Agoura Hills City Council incumbents have all asked for four more years of service. They have shown their lists of supporters, their accomplishments and their brilliant choices. They are counting on the people who voted for them the last time to vote for them this time as well.

The challengers have no previous track record as city council directors.

So the outcome of this election is clear, right?. The vote count will probably be the same as it was 4-years ago when the same candidates ran against one another.

Could there be a challenger who has a vision that outshines the visions of the challengers? Is there a chance of a miracle? Do the people who will cast their votes have enough information to make informed decisions?

The Problem:

The current Agoura Hills City Council has a very basic operational flaw. It has nothing to do with being corrupt or abuse of power. The flaw that I'm referring to is a flaw that many government councils and private businesses have. In a word, that flaw is "complacency". When things are going well, a complacent person will make the assumption that every one is happy. Everyone in Agoura Hills is not happy.

The Solution:

Agoura's citizens must understand that voting for city council representatives is their basic community obligation. Just like a vote for president, your choice for city council persons does matter. Get to know something about the people who are the candidates. Once you've done that, please be sure cast your vote on November 6th.
