ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In the past 12 years, Susan Hunter Eiden and her fellow board members have successfully supported and approved many innovative educational programs.
Such programs include:

Initiated the $20 million school bond which provided funds to repair and update aging classrooms at every school

Developed strategies to insure safety of students during time of national and local crisis

Supported Class Size Reduction which has improved the ratio between teachers and students in primary grades

Improved educational opportunities for students with special needs

Approved funding for computers and technological training at every school

Worked with negotiating teams to provide salary increases of up to 16.5% in the last two years alone, while maintaining fiscal responsibility and statutory reserves

Implemented successful new programs in reading, writing and math

Built on the strengths and created strategies to improve the educational concerns identified through standardized testing of district students

Addressed the concerns of parents, youth groups and neighboring residents

Provided enrichment opportunities for GATE students

Developed after-school childcare in partnership with local civic organizations

Encouraged the development of a Learning Organization in which all staff, parents, students and civic groups are valued and contributing members
