Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Robert L. Cody

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Pasadena Area Community College District; Trustee Area 1

This information is provided by the candidate

The mission of a community college trustee is to represent the interest of the community. To effectively represent the community the trustee must be a communicator. This means the trustee must not only communicate with the community, the trustee must also listen to the community. Communication is an active process and the technology of the web holds great promise for strengthening this process.

The foundation of effective communication is integrity. The message must not only be clear and understandable, it must be believable. As a representative of the community, your trustee must have integrity. The greatest challenge facing any trustee is maintaining their sense of integrity. Members of the community will not always agree on a course of action, but it is vital that a community be able to trust the words of its members and agree to work together for the common good even in the face of differences.

Your trustee must represent the community and the community must have confidence in the integrity of its representative.
