Connecting PCC to the Community

By Robert L. Cody

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Pasadena Area Community College District; Trustee Area 1

This information is provided by the candidate
As a resident of the district and a member of the PCC community, I share your desire to be reconnected to our community college.
As a resident of the district and a member of the PCC community, I share your desire to be reconnected to our community college. When meeting the members of the community I am struck by how distant PCC seems to be from its community. As your Trustee I will work to improve communication with the people of my district. Instead of destroying audiotapes of the Board meetings after 90 days, I will have them archived for public inspection. I will also propose that all Board meetings be broadcast over the public access television channel.

You should also have information about the Board available through a website containing agendas, board minutes, and links to relevant documents. Most importantly, the website should contain forms for community input. Finally, community meetings should be held at least once a semester where community members and faculty and staff can come together to discuss common problems and strategies for improving PCC.
