If elected to Antelope Valley Community College (AVCC) Board of Trustees my commitment would be to ensure the District continues to deliver the same high quality educational and occupational curriculum currently offered today.

To achieve this goal I believe the Administration and Staff need strong support from the Board of Trustees. Working together with other Trustees I hope to build a strong partnership between Administration, Staff, and Board. Together we can achieve great things! My interests in running for this seat on the AVCC Board are:

- Fiscal Responsibility: While the state has earmarked funds to address the disparity between part-time and full-time faculty I think there are other areas that need continued legislative emphasis. A fair and equitable salary for all employees, facility modernization, and expansion of existing programs are other areas that need to be lobbied with the state legislature and Governor's office. Balancing all these needs with a limited budget presents a continual challenge. I believe my experience and skill in this area will benefit the district.

- Community Access to Higher Education: Current efforts to build a campus in Palmdale need to be completed. The Lancaster campus is congested and a separate location will make access to AVCC that much easier. In addition, courses need to be offered in outlying communities (Acton, Rosamond, Lake Los Angeles, Leona Valley, and Antelope Acres.) Many residents of these communities are unable to travel on a regular basis, which prohibits them from taking advanced classes. Offering one class in these communities may create the initiative for students to continue work at the main campus.
