My community and college involvement demonstrate a desire and commitment to improve our community and college.
Even though my name will be the last one on the ballot for AV College Board of Trustees, there is no one more committed to excellence at AV College. My community involvement is extensive. I am a member of the American Legion, AV Red Cross Board of Directors, Lancaster Veterans Home Citizens Committee (Vice Chair), Habitat for Humanity program in Palmdale, and JetHawks Booster Club. As a Community College Board Trustee, I am a member of the AV College Foundation Board, AV School Boards Association, Community College League of California, Association of Community College Trustees, and Inland Valleys Trustee Association (and on its Legislative Committee). I currently serve as President of the AVC Board of Trustees. In that position I have had to deal with several important issues. Those include: selection of an appointed Board member to fill the vacancy created by the death of a sitting Board member; selection and appointment of a new Superintendent/President of AVC (Dr. Dan Larios); approval of a $40 million budget which ensures student service despite severe funding cut backs by Governor Davis; and lease of new facilities in Palmdale to hold classes. I have proven experience, proven commitment, and proven leadership.
