Ruth Williams:

Member of the West Hollywood Steering Committee of the Coalition for Economic Survival (C.E.S.), worked to establish Countywide rent control in the mid-70s.

Active in C.E.S. and the West Hollywood Incorporation Committee to establish the City of West Hollywood.

Served as one of the city's first Rent Stabilization Commissioners and helped to draft the strongest rent control ordinance known.

Organized her neighbors and worked with the Sheriffs to deal with transients and drug dealers in Plummer Park.

Worked with local leaders to establish the City's Public Safety Commission.

Is serving her 3rd term as a Public Safety Commissioner.

Has worked to support community-based policing and was honored by late Sheriff Sherman Block and current Sheriff Lee Baca.

Has served on the steering committee of the Stonewall Democratic Club.

Led the "Save the Park" initiative which stopped the City from building a $25 million Civic Center in West Hollywood Park.

Served on the design committee for Santa Monica Blvd in 1998 and supported efforts to create the Kings Road Park.

Played a leadership role in creating the Re-Development Agency for the Eastside.

Has served as President of the West Hollywood Democratic Club and is active in the National Council of Jewish Women.
