Statement of Jack B WhiteBy Jack B. WhiteCandidate for Board Member; Baldwin Park Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
QUALIFICATIONS AND GOALSI have lived in Baldwin Park 41 years. I have served 9 years as School Board Member and President. I served 10 years as Councilman and Major of the City. I am a graduate of California State University and have done graduate work at both Loyala University and The University of Southern California. My three children attended Baldwin Park Schools from Kindergarten through High School and my daughter's son Michael is a student at Vineland. The School District is the largest and most important Industry in the City of Baldwin Park. It is responsible for spending more than 125 million dollars a year and will have an enormous influence on the futures of our children. We have a dedicated staff of administrators, teachers and classified workers who need our support and encouragement. Our newly constructed facililties and those in progress will provide the space needed to reduce class sizes. Our test scores in the upper grades leave much to be desired but at the elementary level our student achievement program is paying off. Hopefully we can achieve similar results in the upper grades soon. We need to attract and keep our qualilty administrators, teachers, and classified staff. We must continue to work cooperatively with city officials and other branches of our government and give our students the advantage that a good education can offer. |
