I believe I am the most qualified candidate to be elected to the Claremont City Council on March 06, 2001 because of my community involvement, work experience and educational training.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
- Founding Member of the Claremont Educational Network, EdNet.
- Commissioner, Traffic & Transportation Commission (8 years).
- Board Member, Claremont Community Foundation.
- Member, Claremont Chamber of Commerce
- Member, Claremont Community Dialogue Planning Committee.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Municipal government experience as an urban planner.
- Private sector experience in commercial and industrial development.
- Additional private sector experience as a consultant in the telecommunication industry.
CAMPAIGN PLATFORM
- Work to unify our community for the benefit of all citizens.
- Foster dialogue among community groups and the City.
- Ensure open city government, inclusive of all citizens.
- Recognize and embrace diverse groups in our community.
- Encourage all citizens to be civil to one another.
- Insist on accountability for Council members and city staff.
- Ensure the Council's proper authority and oversight duty.
- Make right and just decisions, not based on what is popular.
- Work to increase sales tax revenue and reduce utility tax.
- Support small businesses.
- Support private sector development of Village West, and ensure that the new uses in this area are complementary to, and not in competition with the existing Village.
- Protect private property ownership rights while supporting efforts to preserve hillside wilderness and other open space areas through fair compensation of the owners.
