Responsible City DevelopmentBy Heather W GreenCandidate for Council Member; City of San Dimas | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Growing without losing the heart and soul of the city.If a city isn't growing, it's dying. San Dimas is quickly becoming a desirable place to live and do business, and with that comes important decisions for the city's leaders. First, attracting high profile names while making room for smaller, privately owned businesses is a real juggling act. It must be done deliberately, with a keen eye for the personality of the city. We can't lose sight of the historical value of this city when faced with great possible tax revenues from big names. At the same time, we can't turn away great ideas that would enhance our city because we are afraid of change. We also must make room for the families that are moving into our area, while maintaining our beautiful surroundings. Creative development with a sensitivity to the heritage of this great city will provide a consistant flavor and will set us apart from other areas that have given no thought to neighborhood and architectural flow. I offer the idea of responsible growth and development, preserving the heart and soul of this city while looking forward to its future. |
