Pro-Choice on Everything
Libertarians respect the right of every individual to make his or her own choices in every aspect of life. Who knows better how to run your life: you, or the government? Libertarians also recognize that with choice comes responsibility -- the responsibility to respect the rights of others, and the responsibility to deal with the consequences of your choices. The government shouldn't force you to pay for other people's choices -- but you shouldn't expect government to force your neighbors to pay for your choices, either. And Libertarians recognize that people won't always make the right choices. Libertarians don't take their stand for choice because they necessarily support the choices that some people might make, but because letting individuals make their own choices and take responsibility for those choices is the only way to respect their rights. |
