I believe that a true quality health care system is one that values these relationships between health care providers and people seeking their care, whether that be physicians, psychotherapists, nurses, pharmacists, dentists or others, Given this belief, I pledge as an Ohio state representative to work on health care legislation which:
According to the 1997 released National Coalition on Health Care survey, there is widespread and growing discontent in American attitudes and beliefs about health care. The research shows that middle-income working people are increasingly concerned about their availability to obtain timely and affordable health care for themselves and their families, They reveal a lack of trust and confidence in the quality of the health care delivery system and a fear of losing their health insurance coverage, Moreover, public opinion surveys conducted since 1997 show that the anxieties have only grown worse, and that the trend to for-profit health care is considered by the majority of people to be "bad" for the country.

These concerns certainly resonate with my experience as a family doctor. The current managed care system treats the therapeutic human relationships between doctors and patients as commodities on the open market . I believe that a true quality health care system is one that values these relationships between health care providers and people seeking their care, whether that be physicians, psychotherapists, nurses, pharmacists, dentists or others, Given this belief, I pledge as an Ohio state representative to work on health care legislation which:

1. values choice of doctor and privacy of medical information.
2. allows you and your doctor to decide the medical me which is necessary foryou and your family,
3. holds HMO's accountable for treatment decisions that hat-in patients.
4. makes health insurance more affordable for working Ohio families.

Finally, we must come together to work on the problem of the uninsured, This is a social justice issue which cries out for compassionate leadership at the political level. The solutions are not easily found, but the holes in our collective souls are no longer easily ignored either.
