1. What specific measures do you support to increase equal access to health care in Ohio?
|
Answer from John A. Smith:
No response yet.
Answer from Everett J. Dejager:
Libertarians address a problem by first asking what
government has done to create the problem or make it worse.
Health care has become much more expensive since government
took over. 40 years ago most doctors would treat people who
had no money, and not send a bill. Now, government pays for
everything, meaning more paperwork, higher costs, and people
who cannot get access. The answer is to get government out
of t
2. What are your views on legislation to study racial profiling by law enforcement?
|
Answer from John A. Smith:
As an African American man in today's society I understand first hand what racial profiling is or "driving while black". I strongly believe that something needs to be done. I am in strong support of House Bill 363, which would require every law enforcement agency to record detailed data. If elected I will work to make sure that HB 363 is passed. This type of humiliation of being stopped simply because of skin color has to be put to and end.
Answer from Everett J. Dejager:
Driving while black should not be a crime. The problem is how to convince a policeman that if he stops a car, he must have a reason. Some cops are prejudiced, and enjoy stopping a black driver just because he is black The best way to identify prejudiced policemen is to keep score. If we need a law to allow the police department to fire cops with bad records, let's do it.
3. What stable funding source do you support for the Ohio Housing Trust Fund?
|
Answer from John A. Smith:
No response yet.
Answer from Everett J. Dejager:
Do we really need the Ohio Housing Trust fund? Does it
really help? Every kind act by government costs. It starts
with the evil act of extracting money by force. Libertarians
believe the best possible product at the best possible price
can be created only by the free market. Houses to rent or to
buy will become more available if taxes and regulations are
reduced. Don't fund it. Reduce taxes.
