Stopping El ToroBy Merritt Lori McKeon, Esq.Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 70 | |

An action plan for stopping the El Toro AirportEvery candidate for this position "opposes the airport", but where is the beef? I present the plan I have for ending the airport and looking at the many alternatives for providing air transport while keeping the peace. First, as an elected democrat from the 70th, the first in many decades, I will be a voice in the democratic controlled assembly. A voice which will be listened to, just as Loretta Sanchez has a louder and clearer voice in Congress. An Orange County Democrat sends a message to the establishment, if elected. The Board of Supervisors believes the stranglehold they have will continue. If you elect me, I will request a detailed state analysis of property tax revenues which will be lost if the airport is built. I will endorse a light rail to Ontario with check-in at El Toro. I will work diligently to assure South Orange County's voice in the County body politic - from Sacramento. I will fight and win. Newport Beach may be upset, but we can and will assure them that an airport in Ontario with light rail will return John Wayne to what it was always intended to be - a smaller airport with limited use. |
