Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Gary W. Eggert

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Lincoln Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

It is my objective to improve communications between the Board, administration, parents and staff.

The Board must demonstrate a committment to excellence in education for all students providing them academic and/or vocational opportunities to meet their needs.

I want Lincoln Unified School District to be the "employer of choice" for teachers. It is critical that we recruit and retain quality teachers now and for the forseeable future as the demand is increasing due in part to class size reductions and the predictable retirement of the "baby boomer" era teachers.

It is important to recognize that while children learn through the use of different approaches or techniques, we should not abandon those that work in favor of those that may work. New programs need to be adequately researched, funded, and supported by those responsible for implementation. Evaluation metrics must be developed before implementation and consistently applied to determine program effectiveness.
