I am a Co-Publisher of two weekly Newspapers and with my husband Tim, own The Village Sandwich Shoppe in downtown Manteca.

Why am I running for City Council? Because we Taxpayers are in trouble. In trouble, because our elected officials are continually giving millions of dollars of our tax money away to big business/developers/special interest groups while increasing our fees like sewer and water.

Like you, I know how important it is to live within a budget. Yet, City government fails to live within a budget by spending more than it takes in and then wants you to pick up the tab.

I believe it takes common sense leadership to reduce City expenses before asking the taxpayers for more of their hard earned dollars. I am committed to building a concensus among all Councilmembers that ends the current petty politics.

I am not part of the local power elite and I'm not a "city hall insider". I simply want to make our community a better place to live and raise a family. I am not afraid to ask tough questions and I will keep asking until I get straight answers.

Please elect a representatative not a career politician.

I would be honored to receive your support.

Thank you.

Cecelia Drake
