Protect La Mesa from growth coalitions

By Maria "Mercy" Graef

Candidate for City Council; City of La Mesa

This information is provided by the candidate
La Mesa's unique character must be maintained.
In the next 10 years La Mesa is expected to grow 20% in population. Since the City is 98% built up, much of the growth would require replacing existing single family homes and small businesses with high density, high rise buildings. This would destroy the unique small town qualities of La Mesa.

Growth must be managed and viewed as part of long term goals. Our neighborhoods should not be rezoned just to accommodate higher densities and variances should not be granted just to make projects "economically viable". La Mesa must not become just an extension of San Diego with resident owners non-existent.
