Looping ProjectBy Ed HamlinCandidate for Director; Golden Hills Community Services District | |

The looping project is important, and should be done. But it can wait until we see what happens with the Keene project.I don't think we should spend upwards of $200,000 on looping our water distribution if we can wait and include it as part of the Keene water project at MUCH LESS COST to us. I sympathize with those who say our water is not drinkable in some areas. I have to double-filter our tap water myself because of its taste. I've been doing this for at least 10 years, and I guess I can do it another year or two, if it means saving some money. The system has been in its current state for over 30 years. There is no doubt that we need to do the looping. I am only asking, "why the sudden urgency?" I think we can wait and possibly use the money for debt reduction and/or lowering water rates. If we can get the Keene project to bear most of the cost of looping, it would be the height of foolishness to spend the money too soon. |
