My accomplishments and vision for the future.

By Mark Peterson

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Concord

This information is provided by the candidate
Five years ago you elected me to the Concord City Council. Since that time I have made decisions as your Councilmember to help make Concord a great place to live, work, and raise a family. The following is a summary of those accomplishments and my vision for the future.
Five years ago you elected me to the Concord City Council. Since that time, I have made decisions as your Councilmember to help make Concord an excellent location in which to live, work, and raise a family.

In each of the past five years, we have passed a BALANCED BUDGET, and have also endorsed a FULLY-FUNDED TEN YEAR FINANCIAL PLAN for the city. The streets of Concord are better maintained than ever before, and the median islands of major streets have undergone extensive beautification with flowers and landscaping.

A FEW OF THE MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS SINCE MY ELECTION:

  • Expanded the Concord Pavilion
  • Constructed a new Police Facility
  • Welcomed Waterworld to Concord
  • Welcomed Brenden Theaters to Concord
  • Opened the Software Business Incubator
  • Began the Holiday Litefest
  • Welcomed Costco and Design Expo to Concord
  • Construction of the Youth Playfields Complex
  • John F. Kennedy University announced their relocation to Concord
  • Seren to provide cable competition with AT&T
  • Expanded the city recycling program
  • Crime rate down approximately 40%
  • Removed the Spirit Poles!

ALL OF THE ABOVE HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED WITH NO NEW TAXES.

As a Deputy District Attorney, I have spent the past fifteen years putting criminals behind bars, and I know how important it is that our community be a safe place to live and raise our families. My wife Penny and I have been married 17 years and we have three young children. Keeping Concord safe will always be a priority.

Some of the other activities I have been involved with:

  • Board Member, Concord Youth Center
  • Board Member, Police Activities League for youth
  • Volunteer, Muscular Dystrophy Association
  • Coach, Mount Diablo Soccer Association

In the very near future we will begin an EXPANSION OF THE SENIOR CENTER, build a SKATE PARK FOR OUR YOUTH, continue plans for a JOINT LIBRARY with John F. Kennedy University, and construct a NEW COMMUNITY CENTER. As you can see, we will continue to strive to meet the needs of every segment of our community.

I want to continue our plans for reducing crime, expanding youth programs, increasing services for our seniors, and improving traffic conditions. With your help we can keep Concord on track. With your vote, you can help continue to make Concord a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Please vote for me on November 7th. Thank you for your support.
