A Director for All of Kensington

By Michael S. Ogul

Candidate for Director; Kensington Police Protection and Community Services District

It's about time for the KCSD to be responsive to the families in Kensington
I am a Kensington resident, homeowner and taxpayer; more importantly, a parent, husband, son and brother. I'm also an attorney, forty-four years old, having devoted my entire career to public interest and public service.

During our five years in Kensington, I have become very concerned over the insensitivity the Service District has demonstrated for parents, children and families. The District needs to serve all of Kensington. Many families and other residents have moved to Kensington in the last several years and we hope that more will continue to come here. After all, new residents not only bring enthusiasm and energy to our community, but their housing investments increase our tax base and property values. And the children who live here are not only the magic in our midst, but are the future for us all.

The District has always served the longstanding residents of Kensington, whom the Directors have associated with and known for many years, but the District has not been fair with newcomers, families or children. Indeed, although we have built a new park, we continue to risk great injury to small children by relegating them to a dilapidated playground that's a lawsuit waiting to happen; adding insult to injury, the Directors have yet to allocate any funds for building a new tot lot or making the old one safe, although they have chosen to finance, in large part, the maintenance of the new park by more than doubling the rent of a local preschool.

We need Directors who have the best interests of our entire community at heart, and will be able to work with each other in order to get the job done. I have facilitated agreements throughout my professional career, and will continue to do so as a Director who serves our whole community.
