Growth Management and Transportation: The number of building permits being issued is alarming and with General Plan policies we can and should control the growth more effectively. Linking key infrastructure such as roads, schools, parks, police and fire to the amount of growth along with guiding development to specific areas will help manage the growth more responsibly. The current General Plan update shows over 1100 acres being converted from residential use to commercial and industrial zoning, resulting in the population being reduced by approximately 16,000 from today's plan.

Economic Development and Job Creation: Developing a healthy and diverse business climate is essential. We must commit to a pro-job environment to retain our current businesses and attract future businesses to Brentwood. This can be done by insuring processing of applications in a timely fashion, implementing development standards and treating people fairly. We are in the heart of the east county region with over 150,000 people, which the majority leave the area each day for work. The area is filled with skilled workers that I believe, with the right policies and attitude we can create a pro-job community. The main benefit is stopping the exporting of our residents each day.

Public Safety: It is known throughout the fire district coverage area that we are at great risk in the event of serious injury, medical call or fire. Brentwood is covered by a county run fire service and currently minimum staffing levels are on the fire trucks which limit what can be done once called. I believe with developing a positive relationship with the county fire district we can and should increase personel on the street and we should expect 24 hour paramedics as a first responder. It is also equally important that our police force increase their participation on the school campuses by expanding the number of school resource officers on staff. Youth crime in our schools is on the increase.
