Candidate for For Member, City Council; City of Alameda

This information is provided by the candidate
Dear Friend,

I am writing you to reaffirm my commitment for keeping Alameda a Neighborhood community. During the past four years as your Councilmember, I have witnessed the great interest and enthusiasm you hold for Alameda. Being re-elected to the City Council will enable me to continue working on vital projects such as base conversion, preserving open space, affordable housing, improving public transit and strengthening our current local businesses while attracting new ones.

Because of your support over the past four years, I have worked diligently on establishing a youth center, skate park, city owned telecommunication network, renovation of City Hall, Webster Street improvements, Park Street visioning, and economic development. We now face great hurdles in funding a new library in November along with many other critical issues facing the city.

In addition to my council duties, I have been privileged to participate on the Airport Operations Committee, Alameda County Lead Poison Prevention Board, Public Transit Committee and the Alameda Youth Collaborative as the Mayor's alternative.

As you know, I am a retired Army Colonel and former employee at the Naval Air Station. I feel proud to have raised my family in Alameda and want my grandchildren to enjoy all of Alameda's rich quality of life.

I am asking for your vote and any other means of support you can provide which will allow me to continue to represent you, both as a friend and Councilmember.

Sincerely

Councilman Al DeWitt
