Diane's Promise to the Residents of Santa Clarita

By Diane Trautman

Candidate for Council Member; City of Santa Clarita

This information is provided by the candidate
Diane talks about what's important to her as a resident, and what she'll do as a full-time City Council Member for the citizens of Santa Clarita.
When I first moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1977, I enjoyed the fresh air, the aroma of the onion fields, and leisurely drives along uncrowded two-lane roads. But things have changed.

Santa Clarita has become the fastest growing city in LA County, and the fifth fastest growing city in all of California.

This rapid growth has caused over-crowded schools, more traffic and a deficit of park land.

As your City Council member:

  • I will work with the school districts to ensure schools accompany any new development.
  • I will require that developers pay their share for new roads and other infrastructure needs.
  • I will not sacrifice the peace and cohesiveness of existing neighborhoods by forcing traffic through them to accommodate new developments.
  • I will not approve additional development if infrastructure needs cannot be provided.
  • I will implement the Development Monitoring System required by our City General Plan before any further development is approved.
  • I will ensure that the Santa Clara River is protected from overdraft as required by our City General Plan.

Let's remember why we moved to Santa Clarita, and then ask ourselves which candidate will really represent our best interests on the next City Council.

I have not received, nor will I accept financial support from any entities with business that would come before the City Council.

My only obligation will be to you. My only agenda is to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Santa Clarita for all its citizens.
