A Promise for the Future
I would like to thank the residents of Warren County for the confidence you placed in me by electing me to work for you as your Warren County Commissioner since 1993. We have accomplished a great deal in the past seven years - but there is still much to be done.
I want to continue to lead this county into the next millennium, preserving its family-friendly tradition - while ensuring controlled growth and development at a time when our growth has sky rocketed to an all time high of 28% since 1990.
It has been a privilege and honor to serve you for the past seven years and a responsibility that I have not taken lightly. With your continued support, I will continue to fight to:
- Maintain a balanced county budget with sufficient reserves that prevent future tax increases
- Continue reducing your property taxes, as I have done for the past three years, amounting to over $17M dollars.
- Assure that new development occurs according to up-to-date land use plans in a manner that meets the growing and ever changing needs of the area and includes residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure designed to meet the varied income levels and financial demands of the communities I serve.
- Assure that new development pay its own way and not at the expense of existing residents.
- Continue to restructure county services so that they are customer based and user friendly by the taxpayers of this county and eliminate duplication of services and costs.
- Continue all efforts to protect our environment, increase green space in new developments and continue purchasing $500,000 of parkland per year, as a sound investment for our future.
- Work regionally on key issues like economic development, work force development, environment and transportation.
- Lobby for legislative reform at the State Level to prevent unfunded mandates, annexation reform that further protects property owner rights.
- Continue paying "Cash" for all county facility capital improvements to prevent future generations from having to pay for our debt and saving county taxpayers millions of dollars in interest payments alone.
- Invest in the rebuilding and improvements of many of our hazardous roadways and intersections.
I am pleased to announce that I will be running unopposed in the March Primary Election and thus far, unopposed in the November General Election. I pledge to continue fighting for common sense values, conservative yet efficient spending from a county government that is planning for the future. Additionally, I will continue working, full time, for the residents of Warren County. I thank you for the opportunity to serve you and ask for your vote and continued support on March 7, 2000.
Sincerely,
Pat Arnold South
