Gridlock



The usual solutions lack one thing, the input of the people of the Bay Area. They will have to decide on these two solutions; the completion of BART around the bay and the electrification of Cal Train.

As an eletrical engineer and a member of The Vehicle Society of IEEE I believe that the Automatic Car Protype under state pressure could be implemented in a few years. The computer driven car could triple the car density of each lane. The testing of the automatic car design has already started in Los Angeles.

Affordable housing



In order for the Bay Area to be a viable community, there should be affordable housing for all incomes. Builder's should be required for all new housing developments to offer a certain percentage to middle income families just like they are required to for low income families. Some of these homes would be two bedroom starter homes for first-time home buyers.

Campaign financing



The state would supplement the candidates compaign chest, regulate the number of days a campaign could run and limit the maximum amount of money spent during a capaign. Soft Money taints legislators.

Education


The state of Calfornia must help the teaching instructor with a professional wage and return classroom authority to the teacher. Tax money should not be spent on administration but instead on new facilities and student's needs. The private sector should contribute technology to reflect the current population and ensure an advanced workforce.

Multi county planning


Multi-county planning or California State planning needs to be long term regarding factories, jobs, housing and highways. If job demand grows faster than housing development the spiral cost of housing will force our children and grandchildren back to the 19th century with minimal home ownership.

The state must make it attractive to the entrepreneur to build factories and homes together or to renew abandoned factory areas. For every two jobs in the Bay Area there should one dwelling.

Environment


The quality of living in the Bay Area can be maintained by protecting the environment. The ratio of construction to the amount of open space can be maintained by County or California state planning.

It is necessary to accept the limits required by local planners who control the spacious beauty of the Bay Area.
