SCOTT GRUENDL Biography Scott Gruendl was born in Oakland, California, the son of an electrician from Pennsylvania, who has taught him the virtues of family, church and community. Scott is a manager for the County of Glenn, where he is currently charged with implementation of welfare reform. Prior to local government, Scott Gruendl was self-employed as the owner of an environmental engineering firm offering services in air quality monitoring, as well as, groundwater and soil contaminant remediation. Scott has also worked as a land-use-planning consultant, specializing in habitat conservation and recreational planning. California State University, Chico, awarded Scott Gruendl a BA in Public Administration and he went on to complete the coursework for the Masters of Public Administration. In 1989, Gruendl was appointed to two terms on the Chico Planning Commission where he served as chair during the development of the award-winning General Plan. In 1992 and 1996 Scott Gruendl ran for Chico City Council. In 1998 Scott Gruendl was nominated to the California Assembly. Gruendl wrote the Durham Recreation and Park District Master Plan, planned tax base development for the Lime Saddle Community Services District, and created the Chico State University Student Shuttle System.
