About the incumbent, a career politicianBy Saundra DuffyCandidate for United States Representative; District 13 | |

Fortney "Pete" Stark has been flaking out in the House for 27 years already!Come out of the closet - Pete Stark. As I travel around Congressional District 13, I find that the good people of this district don't really know what Pete Stark stands for. Let's drag Stark out of the closet. Pete Stark is a multi-millionaire, career policitian. Over the course of his tenure as a member of Congress, he has enjoyed steady and substantial pay raises. He recently voted himself yet another pay raise. But when it comes time for us - the taxpayer - to get a break, Stark says NO to tax relief. Pete Stark is a Socialist, a card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America. He is for "universal health care" (aka socialized medicine), which would raise taxes on the backs of working families and cause our health care to deteriorate to the level of Canada's. Pete Stark is no friend to our military. Stark wants to divert funds from our military to fund his pet pork social programs. In addition, Stark is a self-proclaimed pacifist, meaning he opposes all wars. Therefore, as a member of Congress, whose sworn duty is to uphold the Constitution - and who must vote to fund our military personnel and missions - he should resign immediately. Pete Stark gets more than half his campaign money from union dues. Since the unions are connected to the Democrat Party like white on rice, the rank-and-file members are supporting such anti-working man issues as NAFTA. Also, union members who happen to be Libertarian, conservative, independent or Republican, end up supporting candidates and causes they may personally detest. Go figure. Pete Stark is a left wing liberal. I call him and his ilk "knee pad Democrats" - like Monica, only over issues, bowing down before Clinton-Gore's gluttenous government. I, Saundra Duffy, am a freedom loving, patriotic, common sense conservative. A vote for me is a vote for FREEDOM! Haven't you had enough already of Pete Stark and his socialism? |
