Mr. Groveman is currently a senior partner at Proskauer Rose LLP, where he directs one of the firm's largest litigation practices. In this capacity he is the Chief Investigative Attorney who was responsible for exposing the Belmont Learning Center scandal.

Following graduation from the Southwestern University of Law in Los Angeles, Mr. Groveman began his legal career in the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office in 1979. As a city prosecutor he handled hundreds of cases and tried well over 50 jury trials involving a wide variety of street crimes, including weapons offenses, narcotics, and family violence. He later became Chief Environmental Prosecutor for the City of Los Angeles and Head of the City Attorney's Environmental Protection Division. In this capacity, he served as General Counsel for environmental affairs for city commissions and departments, the City Council and the Mayor of Los Angeles.

In 1984 Mr. Groveman was appointed to the position of Special Assistant District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles. During his tenure he established the first Environmental Crimes Division of the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office and headed the nationally acclaimed Los Angeles Toxic Waste Strike Force.

In 1986, Mr. Groveman was the principal coauthor of Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, one of the strongest anti-toxics laws in the country.

In private practice Mr. Groveman has handled landmark cases on behalf of multinational corporations, small businesses and major public entities. He has proven himself to be both an outstanding litigator and negotiator.

In 1998, Mr. Groveman was appointed to lead the Los Angeles Unified School District's Safety Team which was assigned the responsibility for reviewing health and safety issues for existing schools and all future school sites. For the past year Mr. Groveman has served as the Chief Investigating Attorney for the Safety Team exposing not only the scandal at the Belmont site but uncovering major safety hazards at a planned school site in the City of South Gate. Mr. Groveman's actions have prompted immediate emergency corrective action by district officials to address these ongoing health and safety concerns related to students, teachers and other school occupants.

Mr. Groveman was the recipient of the "International Monitor Award" presented by a consortium of Washington D.C. based environmental groups in recognition of his achievement in the enforcement of environmental laws. Mr. Groveman has received a Certificate of Commendation for Outstanding Service from the District Attorney's Association and a Resolution of Commendation from Secretary of State March Fong Eu for his dedication to the health and safety of the citizens of California.

Mr. Groveman served on the faculty of Southwestern University School of Law as an adjunct professor. He is founder and past chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Environmental Law Section and is a past member of the Los Angeles County Bar Ethics Committee.............................................
