The questions were prepared by the League of Women Voters of Hamilton County and asked of all candidates for this office. Read the answers from all candidates. Questions & Answers1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?
Columbia Township enjoys very good Metro service. Public transportation is necessary for economic growth of the community. In Columbia Township only a few areas are lacking in public transport. 2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.
In general, I would support such regulations. However, I do not believe public funds should be used for candidate campaigns. 3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?
By determining the potential uses for land, zoning decisions can be made to maximize each area. Some uses may be totally imappropriate, such as heavy industrial near a residential area, and prior study allows these concerns to be addressed. Buffer zones are preferred between various zoned areas.
Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League, but formatted for Web display. Candidates were asked to limit their responses to 300 words for all 3 answers. Simple spelling or typographical errors were corrected after confirmation with the candidate. |
