The questions were prepared by the League of Women Voters of Hamilton County and asked of all candidates for this office. Read the answers from all candidates. Questions & Answers1. What effect would the community (charter) schools have on the public schools in your district?
Because Finneytown is a small school district that continues to be responsive to the concerns of students, parents, and the community, I believe the effect of community schools on Finneytown would be minimal. 2. Evaluate the adequacy of support services, beyond state standards, presently provided for special-needs students in your district.
Considering the financial constraints within which it must operate, Finneytown Local School District provides above average service to special needs students and as result parents of special needs students often move into the district to receive those services. However there is always room for improvement in the services we provide to all students. 3. Has the use of proficiency tests in your school improved the education of students?
In my opinion the use of state mandated proficiency tests has improved students' test taking abilities, but has not improved their overall education. Dedicated administrators and teachers continually seeking innovative and effective means of reaching all students have improved their education.
Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League, but formatted for Web display. Candidates were asked to limit their responses to 300 words for all 3 answers. Simple spelling or typographical errors were corrected after confirmation with the candidate. |
