The questions were prepared by the League of Women Voters of Hamilton County and asked of all candidates for this office. Read the answers from all candidates. Questions & Answers1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?
Vine Street is a main bus line that provides access throughout Greater Cincinnati. Light rail is definitely something to consider should it become reality. Elmwood Place is centered perfectly in Hamilton County, therefore, should have marketability. 2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.
Campaign finance regulations are necessary; for public matching funds- no!; limiting campaign contributions- to some dgree; and provide for more disclosure- depends on what that disclosure would entail. 3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?
Nothing is ever wrong with proper planning, both present and future. palnning allows one to lay out a strategy, set goals, and predict completion dates with a specific result in mind. When dealing with land use planing and zoning is very important to keep two things in mind 1( flexibility and 2) the long haul. How are these plans going to impact the community in the years to come and flexibility because of the votility of the market, business, and population in order to make cost effectiv changes mid-stream if necessary.
Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League, but formatted for Web display. Candidates were asked to limit their responses to 300 words for all 3 answers. Simple spelling or typographical errors were corrected after confirmation with the candidate. |
