What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?
Harrison's location does not easily lend itself to effective public transportation ideas. The city is not in the position to provide public transportation therefore we would be relying on an outside service such as queen city metro to provide public transportation and, of course, that decision would be theirs. there seems to be a reasonable amount of interest in the current express service running from Harrison to downtown Cincinnati however it would remain to be seen how well received an expanded bus service would be. in the event an expanded service is offered, i believe the city should retain control to the extent possible, the placement of bus stops and the bus routes to be used. 2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.
I do not favor public matching campaign funds as I do not believe it is the best expenditure of public funds. I believe limitations on campaign contributions and provisions for more disclosure should be considered based upon the budget of the entire campaign. It does not seem reasonable to place the same restrictions on smaller campaigns in local elections as may be placed on the "big money" campaigns for county-wide elections, larger city elections, state and federal elections. 3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?
Land use planning is essential. Having a working plan in place to dictate how land will be used helps eliminate "piecemeal" development and allows for continuity and flow. Handled properly, clear and concise zoning regulations can maintain and increase residential property values while attracting businesses to appropriate locations.
