1. What effect would the community (charter) schools have on the public schools in your district?
|
Answer from Tom Bemmes:
A charter school in Reading would negatively effect the public school system, unless the schools all had the exact same state regulations.
2. Evaluate the adequacy of support services, beyond state standards, presently provided for special-needs students in your district.
|
Answer from Tom Bemmes:
The support services that are in place are excellent. Now we must help families to take advantage of these services.
3. Has the use of proficiency tests in your school improved the education of students?
|
Answer from Tom Bemmes:
Reading Schools have always provided an excellent education. The proficiency tests have forced schools to align curriculum and focus on proficiency topics and this is ok. I do however believe that the proficiency tests do apply undue pressure on young children.
